Such a visceral piece <3 Thinking of hauling huge suitcases up thick stairs really takes me back to previous Eurotrips. Also, your images are fantastic! x

The lemon tart looked fantastic. What a place to get inspired to write!

I know! That tart was as good as it looked, I promise.

Thanks Reta for the great write-up of Ceret and the excellent photos! And, of course, the shout-out. I really enjoyed getting to know you and your writing!

PS the day after you left was the Ronde Ceretane, footraces and costumes and all-day party rung in by a brass band that never stopped. Sardane dancers in the square and more music in the evening. When Ceret isn't quiet, it's wild!

Oh man! I hate that I missed that!

I've spent two weekends in Céret, in a lovely hotel with a nice pool called Le Mas des Trilles -- just a kilometer or two outside of the town. I absolutely love the area, but didn't find Ceret as charming or lively as I had hoped, and both times I was there in late August. Did you get to the modern art museum?

I did not but my friends did. They enjoyed it.

Those stairs, haha! We found the stairs in older buildings (and even some of the newer ones) in Southeast Asia to be likewise non-uniform and unpredictable. The only thing predictable, in fact, was that you can't count on having an elevator to haul you and your luggage up and down. It's one of the reasons we carry backpacks instead of suitcases.

Yes, after my most recent trip after Ceret, I’m down to a small carryon and a small backpack. Not taking anything too difficult to carry.

Sounds delicious and looks lovely! I wish I could have joined in.

Oh, Reta, this is the best write-up of Ceret! And fabulous photos. It was so wonderful to have you as part of the workshop and thank you for the shout-out.
